Khara Pongal(Ven Pongal)Recipe




Ingredients :

Rice-1/2 cup
Spilt yellow moong dal-2 cups
Pepper powder-1/2 tbs
Ghee-3 tbs
Cumin seeds-1/4 tbs
water-4 cups
Salt-As required
Turmeric powder-1/2 tbs

For Seasoning :

Ghee or Oil-2 tbs
Cumin seeds-1/2 tbs
Curry leaves(chopped)
Cashews(Split)-10-12

Preparation :

Mix all the above ingredients and cook on low flame upto 4 whistles.If it is thick then u can add water and cook it for 2-3 mins,so that you get loose consistency.When done add the seasoning and serve it when hot with coconut chutney.

It is really good for kids,they enjoy it.
